Awarding recognition of exemplary practices for disabled people
The aim of the Positive Action Awards is to provide an opportunity for disabled people living in the Northwest to nominate employers, businesses, service providers or individuals that deserve recognition for promoting independence, delivering accessible and/or inclusive services, or maintaining exemplary employment practices for disabled people.
The Positive Action Awards are provided through a collaborative involving the Warrington Disability Partnership and the sponsors and supporters of the Disability Awareness Day which is recognised internationally as Europe’s and probably the world’s largest user led independent living event.
The 2014 winners of the Positive Action Awards were announced at Disability Awareness Day which took place on Sunday 13th July at Walton Hall & Gardens in Warrington. Their contributions were recognised during the presentation ceremony which saw see the winners receiving their awards on stage in the Performing Arts Marquee during the day.
Event organiser and founder/chair of Warrington Disability Partnership Dave Thompson MBE DL said "Disabled people make a valuable economic contribution to our region and it is vital that we recognise this and that we create an environment that allows them to fulfil their potential. The Positive Action Awards recognise the outstanding efforts shown by individuals and organisations in removing barriers to participation”.
